Two open-ended wrenches are required to adjust the emergency brake on a vehicle. There are two procedures that tighten the emergency brake cable, one requires access under the vehicle while the other can be done inside of the cabin. The manufacturer will list which of the two procedures will work for the vehicle inside of its repair manual.
The first procedure requires the vehicle be properly raised and supportedbeforelocating the brake cable by tracing the lines from the rear wheels. Next, loosen the jam nut and adjust the cable until it tightens. Then, tighten the jam nut. The second procedure follows a similar pattern with the exception of it being done from inside the vehicle.
