Who writes business plans?

Typically, an entrepreneur writes a business plan before launching a new business venture; however, some entrepreneurs hire consultants to assist with or write the plan. The time to write a plan varies, though a company founder must often prepare one before reaching out to venture capitalists or banks for funding.

Entrepreneurs with a solid business background and excellent writing skills are often in the best position to prepare their own business plan. There are consulting firms that specialize in business plan development, however, that have the time and experience to put together a plan that includes typical elements, such as financial projections and a target market analysis.
