Who wrote "Utopia"?

Thomas More, who was born in 1478 and died in 1535, wrote the book "Utopia" in 1516. In addition to being a writer, More was known as a lawyer, philosopher and saint. He was actually credited for coining the word "utopia" as it applies to a political system.

More's fictional book "Utopia" was about a communist island where reason governed the island's customs, and it is known for its focus on humanist beliefs that were in opposition to the Christian beliefs at that time. For example, the book focused on such topics as religious tolerance, women's rights, euthanasia, divorce and education controlled by the state.
