What is www.yahoo.com?

The site Yahoo.com is an Internet portal with a built-in search engine that also serves as a directory for Web sites on the World Wide Web. The site is very popular, largely due to its associations with the most popular Web search sites.

Yahoo was developed by David Filo and Jerry Yang in 1994 while they were graduate students at Stanford University. It started as a list of bookmarks that were organized by the two on their college Web site. The list became so popular that the two had to postpone their graduate work to work on it full time. Today, the site services billions of web page views from all across the Internet.
