In what year did the Revolutionary War end?

The Revolutionary War ended in 1783. A preliminary peace treaty was ratified on April 19, 1783, on the 8th anniversary of the "shot heard round the world" and the first two battles of the war between the minutemen and the redcoats at Lexington and Concord.

On Sept. 3, 1785, the United States and Great Britain both signed the Treaty of Paris that officially ended the Revolutionary War. After the end of the war, it wasn't until 1787 that the U.S. Constitution was signed, and it wasn't until the following year that the Constitution was adopted after it was ratified by New Hampshire.
