What does the yeti crab eat?

The yeti crab eats mussels and shrimp, and scientists speculate that the bristles on the crab's legs are used to catch bacteria that it eats. There is no proof that the crab eats the bacteria it filters through its leg bristles, as the yeti crab was only discovered in 2005 and there is much left to research on this crab's activities.
The yeti crab got its name because of its hairy bristle legs. It resembles an abominable snowman, also called a yeti, so scientists named it the yeti crab. It lives near the hydrothermal vents along the ridge of the Pacific Ocean and the Antarctic.
