Where is the Yokut Indian tribe located?
By Forinfos - 21/04/2025 - 0 comments
The Yokut Indian tribe originally occupied a 250-mile-long strip of territory in the central San Joaquin valley and a smaller strip of land along the eastern foothills in the southern half of the San Joaquin valley in present-day California. The Yokut people continue to live in California as of 2015.
Prior to European contact, the Yokuts consisted of about 60 separate tribes that all spoke very similar languages. The Yokuts lived in permanent houses for most of the year and spent summers traveling to gather food. The San Joaquin valley provided a variety of food for the Yokut people, including waterfowl, fish, rabbits and deer.
