Do Yorkies make good family pets?

Yorkies are good for families with older kids and teenagers but not for younger kids with a lot of energy. Yorkies, or Yorkshire terriers, are also not good with active and hyper dogs.

Yorkies can be nippy and aggressive with some younger kids and other dogs. On the other hand, Yorkies are a good dog for families with cats that aren’t high strung. A Yorkie is a small dog, reaching about 8 to 9 inches in height and usually weighing between 4 and 7 pounds. The typical lifespan of a Yorkie is 12 to 16 years. The biggest drawback to a Yorkie is that the coat is high maintenance and needs to be cut often.
