Zoo-phonics is a system that uses multiple senses to teach children the alphabet and allow them to become strong readers and spellers, according to the main website of Zoo-phonics. Zoo-phonics can easily be used to teach either at home or at school.
Zoo-phonics cards depict an animal drawn into the shape of a letter, and children are taught to associate each animal and a related motion with a specific letter of the alphabet. For example, the card for the letter A shows Allie Alligator. The children look at the card and say "Allie Alligator," then clap their hands together like an alligator mouth while making the "A" sound.
