Rome was not only able to establish a military stronghold within the parameters of its borders but also founded solid trade relationships with surrounding countries that made the import and export of goods and supplies convenient and fast. Having a heavy sea presence also meant that Rome could exercise control over much of the surrounding areas. Once Rome was able to expand its army, it could send troops both north on land and south via the sea. Most other established civilizations of the time did not have the benefit of both foot soldiers and sailors.\nRome was also located within an area in ..

Instead of moving elsewhere to build on more favorable lands, the Aztecs established a capital city right over a large swampland. They did so at the perceived instruction of the gods, who directed Aztec leaders to settle peacefully on the lands where an eagle, holding a snake its mouth, rested. As the envisioned eagle appeared to a leader over the swampy area, the Aztecs had no choice but to build in that spot. To traverse the lakes and lagoons surrounding the new homeland, the Aztecs constructed canoes and water vessels for transportation. An abundance of vegetation grew in the moist climate,..

In 1940, the U.S. Army was testing the idea of deploying troops using parachute drops. They decided to try a mass jump in which the testers jumped out of the plane in quick succession. The men were nervous about this. To relax, they went to see a movie the night before the jump. The movie they saw was "Geronimo," about the Apache chief. After the movie and some beer, Eberhardt claimed he wasn't nervous about the jump. The other soldiers gave him a hard time about it. He said that to prove he wasn't scared, he would yell "Geronimo" when he went out of the plane.

Glow sticks illuminate by means of a chemical reaction activated when the outside portion of the container is flexed, allowing the solutions to combine and react. After breaking, the tubes are shaken to mix the chemicals completely. After the chemical reaction is activated, the light of a glow stick cannot be shut off; it gradually dims and goes out on its own. The mixture inside glow sticks should be kept away from skin and should not be ingested.

Czar Nicholas II was executed by Bolshevik forces in July of 1918. The Bolsheviks were committed to the ideas of Karl Marx, and they believed that the working classes would free themselves from the economic and political control of the ruling class. They wanted to form a socialist society based on equality. The provisional government was never elected, and it chose to remain in World War I, despite the fact that the country was ill-equipped to fight against Germany. This made people more in favor of the revolution.
