Li Peng was born on October 28, 1928. His father was writer Li Shuoxun. He was orphaned in 1930, when his father was executed by the Nationalist Party. In 1939, he entered the care of Deng Yingchao. His new guardian was the wife of Zhou Enlai, a leader in the Chinese Communist Party.
