What is a 1040 Social Security Benefits Worksheet?
By Forinfos - 19/05/2026 - 0 comments
The Social Security benefits worksheet is used to calculate the taxable portion of any Social Security retirement, disability or survivor benefits received during the year, according to the Internal Revenue Service. It is available on the IRS website and comes with the instructions for forms 1040 and 1040A.
The worksheet considers all other taxable income, filing status and any excluded income such as tax exempt interest and foreign earnings to determine how much Social Security income is taxable, comments H&R Block. Up to 85 percent of the net benefits for the year, as shown in box five of the recipient's SSA-1099 or RRB-1099, may be reportable income.
