Production of V nickels ran from 1883 and 1912; V nickels are also called liberty nickels. The coin features a left-facing bust of Lady Liberty on its obverse side and a capital V on the reverse side. Starting in 1913, the Mint produced nickels known as Indian Head or Buffalo nickels.
