What is a 1952 dime?

A 1952 dime is a fairly common coin that is composed of 90 percent silver. The dime has an imprinted portrait of President Roosevelt. Approximately 99 million proofs were released into circulation from the Denver and San Francisco Mints, and 81 thousand coins were released from the Philadelphia Mint.

Due to the silver content, the melt value alone for the coin is about $1.50. The numismatic value of a 1952 dime in poor grade condition is about $2 (20 times the face value), and a coin in perfect grade condition can be expected to bring in $10 (100 times the face value).
