What is a 2.0 grade point average?

A 2.0 grade point average generally represents the equivalent of a C average on a letter grade scale. This is also equivalent to the 75th percentile.

GPA is computed through the assignment of point values to each letter grade. The total of grade points earned is divided by the credits earned to determine that average. In most cases, As are valued at four points, Bs are valued at three points, Cs are valued at two points, and Ds are valued at one point. However, weighted grading may include higher point values for grades earned in advanced classes. Some school systems also provide partial points for pluses or minuses.
