The 50-state quarters collection is a set of 50 quarters which commemorate each of the 50 states in the nation. The 10-year program started in 1999 with the Delaware quarter being the first one minted and ended in 2008 with the production of the Hawaii coin.
Quarters for each state were made for 10 weeks before production was stopped on that quarter and started on the next. The quarters were introduced in the order in which their corresponding states entered the Union. A unique design representing the state appears on the coin's reverse side. The image of George Washington appears as usual on the obverse side.
