Where is the 844 area code?

The 844 area code is located nationwide. As of 2015, it is the newest toll-free area code and was implemented in 2013.

In 2013, area code 844 was added to the existing 800, 855, 866, 877 and 888 toll-free area codes. Plans are in the works to add 833 and 822 sometime soon. Due to the popularity of toll-free numbers and the limited number of area codes available, the FCC pushed up the 844's launch to 2013, despite being set to debut in February, 2014.

Numbers for a new area code are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis and when a new area code comes around, businesses try to snap up vanity numbers with the new area code very quickly.
