What is an ace in volleyball?

An ace in volleyball occurs when a person serves the ball, and it either lands in bounds on the opponent's side of the court or is not legally returned over the net. The serving team is awarded a point for an ace.

An ace is a volleyball term that is also recorded as a statistic. A player can earn a double-double, triple-double, quadruple-double or a quintuple-double with the ace counting as one of five possible statistical categories. The categories are aces, kills, blocks, digs and assists. When a player accomplishes 10 or more of at least two categories, the player qualifies for one of the double statistics.
