What is the ACT Plan test?

The ACT Plan exam is a standardized aptitude test that measures 10th graders' skills and knowledge in areas of English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. It is an optional precursor to the ACT test, taken by 11th and 12th graders and sometimes used in the process of college admissions.
The ACT Plan exam is intended to test students' knowledge of focal areas of high school and postsecondary instruction, as a way to acquire performance benchmarks preceding the actual ACT exam. Unlike the ACT, the ACT Plan has a component that encourages test-takers to explore potential career paths and begin to think about personal career goals. The exam is scheduled and administered by individual high schools.
