How do you activate a Green Dot card?

As of 2015, you can activate a Green Dot prepaid card online or by calling 866-795-7605, according to Green Dot. GreenDot.com provides separate activation forms for customers who purchased cards at participating stores and those who ordered cards online.

Regardless of the activation method chosen, you must provide your name, Social Security number, date of birth, address and phone number to complete the process, Green Dot explains. You must also provide the card number and the included security code. During activation, you select a four-digit PIN code or allow the system to generate one. You can change the PIN code online or by contacting customer support.
