The Holy Land Experience in Orlando, Florida, features exhibits such as the Scriptorium Center for Biblical Studies and the Wilderness Tabernacle, shopping and dining at Estherï¾’s Banquet Hall and the Jerusalem Marketplace, and the Great Temple. Opened in 2001, HLE is about 15 minutes from Disney World on I-4.
Visitors to the Holy Land Experience are immersed in an extensive, contemporary version of life in old Jerusalem. Available just inside the city gates, for instance, the Jerusalem Marketplace features a working well in addition to treats and bottled water. In the Wilderness Tabernacle, a high priest leads visitors through blood sacrifices to Godï¾’s meeting with man. The Great Temple reconstructs the first-century structure on Jerusalemï¾’s Mount Moriah. Visitors can eat in Estherï¾’s Banquet Hall and then relax at Calvaryï¾’s Garden Tomb or the prayer gardens.
With some 40 exhibits and other points of interest, the HLE experience is one of holy history told through color and spectacle. In addition to the theme park, HLE offers the 2,000-seat Holy Landï¾’s Church of All Nations, where visitors can watch state-of-the-art re-enactments of the Passion and Crucifixion of Christ as well as live prayer programs. The Holy Land Experience Center for the Arts offers stage arts education including acting, voice, dance and stage combat, taught by HLE performers.
