What does "ADHD" stand for?

According to WebMD, ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is a condition that usually affects children and adolescents, though it can continue into adulthood. Symptoms of the disorder include hyperactivity, impulsiveness and inattentiveness.

Children diagnosed with ADHD usually have problems with paying attention, concentrating and following directions. They become bored and frustrated more readily and are less inclined to stop and think before they act. Adults with the disorder may have trouble getting organized, managing their time or meeting goals and deadlines. Data from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) estimates ADHD is prevalent in 3 to 5 percent of children.
