How do you adjust a washing machine's height?

Change a washing machine's height by adjusting its legs. Make these adjustments to level the machine and prevent excessive vibration during use, which can stop the appliance from functioning.

Pull the washing machine away from obstructing objects to access the legs of the appliance. Working with one leg at a time, loosen the jam nut, located beneath the base of the washer and above the foot, by turning it in a clockwise direction. Turn the leg counter-clockwise to raise the washer and clockwise to lower it. Tighten the jam nut by turning it in a counter-clockwise direction to lock the leg at the preferred height. Place a level on top of the machine to ensure it is level.
