The longest mountain range in Africa is the Atlas Mountain system. The mountain range spans a length of around 1,500 miles from the southwestern region of Morocco towards Algeria, before ending on the eastern Tunisian boundary.
The Atlas Mountains serve as the dividing range that isolates the Atlantic and Mediterranean seacoasts from the African Sahara. The mountain range contains several smaller chains, including the Maritime Atlas, Middle Atlas and High Atlas. Its tallest peak, Mount Toubkhal, is located in Morocco, and it rises to its summit at 13,671 feet. Other mountain ranges in Africa are Drakensberg, Magaliesberg, Cederberg and the famous Table Mountain in Cape Town.
