What is the African Violet Society?

The African Violet Society is a non-profit organization that provides a network for African Violet enthusiasts. It aims to spark interest in the flower, provide members with access to all species and produce useful content about the flower.

Membership is available for amateur and professional growers, and there are local, regional and online chapters. Membership includes access to the online library, a subscription to the magazine and discounts on online store items. Membership is also a prerequisite for attending the annual convention. Other activities sponsored by the African Violet Society include classes, shows and sales. Since its founding in 1946, it has grown immensely, and as of 2014 it is the largest club dedicated to an individual indoor plant.
