At what age do you become eligible for Medicare?
By Forinfos - 01/05/2026 - 0 comments
The age for Medicare eligibility is 65 years old as of 2015. However, this is the typical minimum age and not the absolute minimal age, as some people qualify at a younger age.
Medicare is also available to anyone under the age of 65 who has end-stage renal disease or has been eligible for Social Security disability for at least 24 months.
The age of eligibility for this program has risen significantly since its creation in 1965 due to increased life expectancy. The minimum age may increase to 67 in the future, consistent with the increase to the full retirement age for Social Security to age 67.
