What is an albino pug?
By Forinfos - 06/04/2026 - 0 comments
An albino pug is a small domesticated dog of the pug breed whose skin, fur and eyes are entirely devoid of melanin. Melanin is a brown to black pigment responsible for the color present in the skin, hair and iris of many mammals, including humans and dogs.
Because albinism affects the entire body, not just the fur, an albino pug has pink irises due to the appearance of the color of the blood nourishing the eye. Leucism is another genetic condition that produces white dogs. However, pugs with leucism have blue eyes because the melanin production is reduced but still present. Dogs that are merely white rather than albino or leucistic still have pigmentation in the iris and can even have dark eyes.
