Puerto Rico lies between the North Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, having a total coastline of approximately 310 miles. Puerto Rico's geography is largely mountainous, with numerous beaches situated along the coast. The capital and largest city is San Juan, located along the northeastern coast. Puerto Rico has a population of about 3.6 million people, as of 2014.
