Alpha Sigma Phi, also known as Alpha Sig, is a college fraternity that is the 10th oldest college fraternity in the United States. It was founded by Louis Manigault, Stephen Ormsby Rhea and Horace Spangler Weiser at Yale University in 1845.
As of 2014, it consists of 99 chapters, colonies and interest groups across America with over 50,000 living members. Current headquarters are in Carmel, Indiana.
The motto of Alpha Sigma Phi is the Latin phrase "Causa Latet Vis Est Notissima," which translates to "The cause is hidden, the results well known." The colors for Alpha Sigma Phi are cardinal and stone, and the symbol is a phoenix.
