The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coastline in the southern part of the Sorrentine Peninsula in the province of Salerno in southern Italy. It is only accessible by land along the Strada Statale 163, which runs from Vietri sul Mare in the east to Positano in the west.
While the closest airport to the Amalfi Coast is the Salerno-Pontecagnano Airport, most foreign tourists arrive via the Napoli-Capodichino Airport in Naples, which is north of the coast.
The Amalfi Coast is a popular tourist destination that is considered Italy's most scenic coastline. The three most famous cities along the coast are Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. The coast was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
