Where is Amelia Island?

Amelia Island is located 32 miles north of Jacksonville on the north-eastern corner of the state of Florida in Nassau County. The island measures 13.5 miles in length and is approximately 4 miles at its widest. The total surface area of the island is approximately 18.2 square miles.

Amelia Island is home to two cities, Amelia City and Fernandina Beach. The island was initially named after Princess Amelia, the daughter of King George II of Great Britain. During its history the island has been under the control of eight different powers. Some historical sights that can be visited on Amelia Island include the Fort Clinch State Park and the Palace Saloon.
