What animal sleeps the most?

Maybe we should exchange the phrase "cat nap" for "bat nap." Brown bats sleep an average of 20 hours per day, more than any other animal.

Sloths have a reputation for being lazy and sleepy, but they are relatively active compared to bats and get approximately 9-10 hours of sleep a day. Giant armadillos, North American possums and pythons also need a lot of sleep, clocking in an average of 18 hours of sleep each.

It has been rumored that lions sleep 20 hours a day, but research shows that to be untrue. Both house cats and wild cats take sporadic naps through the day and night, sleeping approximately 14 hours a day.
