What animal has thick feathers?

The snowy owl of the Arctic tundra has thick feathers to keep it warm when temperatures are extremely low. These birds live year-round in Alaska, Canada, northern Europe, Russia and Greenland. However, snowy owls can sometimes travel to southern Canada or the northern United States if winter prey is scarce.

Other owls also have thick feathers to protect against the cold. For example, the great horned owl, the largest owl in North America, typically lives in one area, even during the winter. The feathers of great horned owls that live in snow-covered regions are typically lighter in color than those of their forest-dwelling relatives.
