Are annuals just as good as perennials?

There are good reasons to use both annuals and perennials in a garden and landscape. Location, environment and personal preference are three important things to consider. Perennials are planted only once, so they are less labor-intensive than annuals.
Annuals have more flowers and a longer blooming period than perennials, but they need to be planted every year. Perennials are a good choice for those who prefer a flower garden that requires less maintenance.
Climate is a significant factor when choosing annuals or perennials. Perennials thrive year-round in mild climates. Occasionally, annuals reseed and sprout up again in the spring, but normally that area needs to be replanted.
