There is nothing a female can do to make her first period start sooner because menstruation is dependent on hormones. Most females get their first periods between age 12 and 14, according to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, although some will start before or after this time frame.
During puberty, a female's hormones trigger the ovaries to release an egg, explains ACOG. When the egg isn't fertilized, the first period occurs. A female's period occurs approximately once every 28 days, but it is normal for periods to be irregular when menstruation begins. Period bleeding usually lasts two to seven days.
