To apply smoky eye makeup, prime the eyelids, apply dark eyeliner, apply light eye shadow, then define the creases with darker shadow, and apply mascara. This 10-minute procedure requires a mirror, eyelid primer, dark eyeliner, several shades of eye shadow, eye shadow brushes, an eyelash curler and mascara.

1. Prime the eyelids

   Close one eye, pat a tiny dab of eyelid primer over the lid, and blend it with a fingertip. Give the primer 10 seconds to dry, then open the eye, and prime the other lid.

2. Line the eyes

   Apply dark eyeliner along the upper lash lines, making the middle of the line thicker than the ends. Then draw a thin line along the lower lash lines, and smudge it with a fingertip.

3. Apply light eye shadow

   Dip a fluffy brush into a light eye shadow, and apply it over the eyelids. Blend it up towards the eyebrows.

4. Contour the creases

   Apply dark eye shadow to the outer corners of the eyelids, and blend it into the creases. Use a light hand, and apply the shadow gradually to avoid using too much.

5. Apply mascara
