"Aquacise," also known as "aquatic exercise" or "water aerobics," is exercise undertaken in the water. According to Everyday Health, aquacise is safer than regular aerobics as it is lower in impact and causes less stress on joints and muscles. It is therefore suitable for older, pregnant and overweight people.

Everyday Health explains that there are three key benefits associated with aquatic exercise. First, water provides natural resistance, so a more effective workout is achieved in the water compared to one on dry land. Second, water supports a person's weight, resulting in a gentler workout which minimizes stress on joints and muscles. Third, water is soothing and relaxing and helps a person's muscles and tissues stretch, making movement easier.
