What do armadillos eat?

Armadillos are insectivores who enjoy a diet of invertebrates and insects, and they primarily eat grubs, insects, spiders, lizards, scorpions and worms. Armadillos may also eat carrion, eggs and fruit.
The armadillo uses its super sensitive nose to sniff out its food, and if food is underground — such as burrowing bugs — the armadillo will use its long claws to uproot it — a behavior that has led to the armadillo being considered a pest by many homeowners, gardeners and farmers.
The armadillo has a broad range that stretches from South and Central America through Mexico and the Southern U.S. It generally prefers wetlands, savannas and prairies.
