ASTM pipe standards are used in the development, testing and evaluating of pipes. These standards, developed by the ATSM International organization, cover plastic pipes, steel pipes, iron pipes and nonferrous metal pipes, such as copper, nickel, zinc and lead. The standards include polymeric or elastomeric plastics.

In addition to pipe standards, the ATSM includes over 12,000 standards for metals, plastics, textiles and rubber. The standards additionally cover tubes and fittings for pipes. Examples of pipes that fall under the standards process include those used high-temperature services, very low-temperature services, ordinary residential use and special applications, such as electric resistance and high pressure.
