As of September 2015, 100 percent ground beef is about $4.126 a pound. The average cost of lean and extra-lean ground beef is $6.139 a pound, while the number for all uncooked ground beef per pound is $4.604.

For the previous three years, ground beef prices have been on a steady incline. For 100 percent ground beef, the price has gone up from $4.096 in September 2014 to $4.126 in September 2015; however, it has decreased from August 2015, when it was $4.159 a pound. Similar trends are evident in other types of ground beef, such as lean ground beef that was higher in August, but considerably lower a year earlier.
