The median pay for an insurance adjuster is $59,850 per year or $28.78 per hour, with the top 10 percent of adjusters making more than $89,810 and the lowest paid making less than $26,950, notes the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. The BLS estimates a slower-than-average growth in the field, with an increase of only 3 percent expected by 2022.
There were 311,100 insurance adjusters, examiners and investigators employed in the workforce as of 2012, notes the BLS. Approximately 10,800 new jobs are expected in the industry by 2022. The job generally requires a high school diploma or equivalent, although higher-paying positions often require a 4-year degree or experience in the field.
