Among the top employment sectors, the federal executive branch showed the highest average salary as of 2013 at $69,670. Adjusters who worked for insurance carriers averaged $61,640 per year. Those who worked for agencies and brokerages averaged $60,930. The District of Columbia was the highest paying state or territory for adjusters at $77,320 per year. Connecticut was next at $71,790, followed by New Jersey at $69,410.
