According to the United States Secret Service, the 2010 starting salary range is $43,964 to $74,891. The salary varies depending on education, qualifications and the assigned geographical location.

A Secret Service agent can earn up to 25 percent law enforcement availability pay (LEAP). This is a premium paid to Federal law enforcement officers who work as criminal investigators. By law, LEAP is set at 25 percent of the agent's base pay, however, there are maximum biweekly earning limitations that can cause the availability pay to be lowered. In order to qualify for availability pay, the agent must have a yearly average of at least two hours of unscheduled service for every workday.
