Africa is a huge continent and encompasses many different climates, but the average temperature of the Sahara Desert region is about 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The Sahara Desert and other dry lands make up 60 percent of Africa.
Overall, Africa is the hottest continent on the earth. In sub-Saharan Africa, temperatures are usually hot in the summer and mild in the winter. The coast is much hotter than inland and higher elevations. The hottest temperature ever recorded was 136 degrees Fahrenheit in Al’Aziziya, Libya, on Sept. 13, 1922. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Africa was -11 degrees Fahrenheit in Ilfrane, Morocco, on Feb. 11, 1935.
