Where do baboons live?

Baboons live in Africa and Arabia. These mammals largely inhabit areas of open woodlands and savannah, with some found in tropical forests. Baboons climb trees for various reasons, but live on the ground for the most part.

Baboons typically take cover in trees for reasons of safety, eating or sleeping. These omnivorous mammals eat various crops, fruits, bark and small animals. Baboons live for about 30 years in the wild. They grow to between 20 and 40 inches long, including the head and body, and have tails close to 2 feet long. Baboons may weigh from 30 to over 80 pounds.
