Where do badgers live?

Badgers primarily live in the Great Plains region of North America, but they can be found as far north as the central western Canadian provinces. They also live as far east as Ontario, Canada and occur much farther south, in mountainous regions in Mexico.

Badgers thrive in pastures, dry open grasslands and fields, and they can live in areas that are below sea level and can even be seen living in high alpine meadows. They live in terrestrial and temperate habitats and can be found in desert, savanna and chaparral biomes. Female badgers usually have a home range of 1.6 square kilometers, whereas males have a larger home range of 2.4 square kilometers.
