Where is the Bahamas?

The island country of the Bahamas stretches southward from 50 miles off the southeastern coast of Florida. The nation consists of more than 700 islands covering more than 5,000 square miles of land across 100,000 square miles of the Atlantic Ocean.

The capital of Nassau is located on the island of New Providence, home to roughly 70 percent of the country's population. With visibility of 200 feet or more, The Bahamas boasts the clearest water on the planet. The country attracts up to four million visitors each year, generating tourism revenues in excess of $4 billion. Other industries playing a large role in the economy are international banking and investment management.
