What is a baking soda face mask?

A baking soda face mask is a beauty treatment that consists of baking soda and water. The mixture is applied to the face to soak up excess oil and to prevent and treat breakouts.

According to New Health Guide, adding water to 8 teaspoons of baking soda forms a paste that is used as a mask. The mask should be applied to clean skin and left until completely dry, or for about 15 minutes. Since baking soda can dry the skin, a moisturizer should be applied after rinsing off the mask. Arm & Hammer also recommends adding baking soda to facial cleanser as a natural exfoliating treatment.
