Baking soda mixed with water may be used to induce vomiting, according to PuppyDogWeb.com. Another option is to orally give several teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide to a small or medium-sized dog or several tablespoons to a large or giant-sized dog. Ipecac syrup may also be given in a smaller dose.
Small to medium dogs can tolerate one teaspoon of ipecac, while large dogs require one tablespoon. Allowing the dog to drink a cup of water speeds up the process. Working Dogs explains how the liver and kidneys are likely to be affected if the dog has swallowed any type of poison.
