Will baking soda melt ice?

Baking soda does melt ice, it also provides traction over ice without ruining shoes. Using baking soda on driveways and outdoor surfaces is perfectly safe, and does not cause damage to concrete like other items used to melt winter ice, such as rock salt and kitty litter.
Baking soda has other uses including relieving burns and insect bites. It can also be used for unclogging drains, cleaning delicate surfaces, killing roaches and stopping cravings for sweets, according to Farmer's Almanac. Baking soda can even clean a burnt pan and get red sauce stains out of Tupperware, but it's safe enough to use as a tooth paste.
